Chino Urgent Care Clinic Highlights Benefits of Dancing for Fitness

Many people sweat it out exercising in gyms or running long distances to keep in shape. For those who enjoy running, weight training and bodybuilding, these activities are effective in controlling weight gain and maintaining health.

Dancing Couple

Not everyone is into running and rigorous exercises, though. Some even find treadmills and stationary bikes boring. For those who prefer a bit of movement without the monotonous routine, there is one other way you could stay fit and have fun at the same time: dancing.

Dancing is universal.

Some exercise routines have limited participants. Overweight people, for example, are not eligible for long running exercises because their weight puts pressure on their feet. Dancing, on the other hand, chooses no age, size or shape. From a two-year-old who could barely walk to an 80-year-old whose steps are slower, dancing appeals to all. You can wiggle in place or jump all night. As long as there is music or rhythm, you can move all you want and keep fit.

Dancing improves many aspects of fitness – all at the same time.

Dancing improves endurance and strength, promotes muscle tone, and enhances coordination, flexibility and overall fitness. Cardiovascular endurance improves the lungs and heart’s ability to bring oxygen to parts of the body that need it. Sometimes, when people are working out in gyms, they tend to work their bodies too much in so little time, resulting in fatigue and causing them to have to visit a clinic for urgent care. With continuous dancing, however, you build up cardiovascular endurance, enabling the heart and lungs to work longer under stress without breaking down.

The warm-up, stretching and cool down exercises involved in dancing not only flex the muscles to prepare or relax the body, but they also promote proper posture and a limber body. Since dancing requires you to move in different and unusual ways, it pushes you to be flexible and balanced. It teaches your body parts to coordinate accurately with one another, enhancing coordination.

Dancing creates new friendships.

Attending dancing classes or sessions in your locale allows you to meet new people who share your interest in dancing. Over time, you gain new friendships and maintain them, contributing to your happiness factor and building up your self-confidence in being part of a group. Some move on to participating in dance competitions as a group, further nurturing their friendships.
